This is my 1st Disco. I got it in 2007 with 99000 on the clock, - now 167000. I do most of my repairs etc but this time I'm Stumped. The problem seems to be fuel starvation; Max revs 2000, and won't go up hills. First I changed the fuel filter. Then the pump. Then checked the sedimenter. No change. Today I had all the fuel pipes off and cleaned them, which wasn't really necessary. The problem has got worse. If left to tick over for a bit she'll rev off the clock, but very soon drop to around 2000. Holding the go pedal to the floor will start her hunting between 1200 - 1800. HELP!!!

When's the last time the timing belt was done?Have you checked it's in the correct position? Cheers Rob D

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Also what brand of lift pump have you fitted and how long ago....

Hiya, thanks for responding. Timing belt is fine. Lift pump is genuine LR fitted 1 wk ago. I have a nasty, cold feeling creeping down my spine which is whispering injector pump. Bad pain in wallet.

Not wishing to take the pee but you have reconnected the two pipes to the lift pump the correct way round? Ask me how I know how easy it is to get them mixed

Yes, everything is fine. When I disconnect the fuel pipe from the injector pump I get a gusher. Tried everything else, it's GOT to be the pump. Found one on ebay and ordered it. Fingers crossed. Might change the timing belt at the same time. Watch this space.......

Which fuel pipes did you check? Have you checked those coming out of the top of the fuel tand in the boot? They often crack as they age and let lots of air in.

PS, this is the introduce yourself part of the forum. If you post in the relavant Discovery section you'd maybe get more help ...

OK. Got new lift pump, new injector pump, new timing belt and flushed all pipework. - No change.(Expletive deleted). As a last resort removed and threw away that useless bit of kit - the sedimenter. Silly really, it was the first thing I thought of, but the drain plug broke off instead of unscrewing and because the fuel flow at the injector pump was so good I assumed all was OK. - WRONG!. Had I let the flow continue a bit longer I would have found the flow reduce to a drip as the sedimenter drained. Then after a time when fuel had syphoned back into it, the motor would run again. Replacing the timing belt was a pain as the locking screw in the side of the pump is a myth. So as soon as I removed the belt all was lost. Anyway, all done now and the old lady runs better than ever. Thanks for your support and suggestions. - Granpa
