Finally ditched my CRV and have a nice shiny 53 plate v6 freelander.
Not fussed on fuel consumption, as I dont do many miles, so thought the
V6 a nice choice.

Lovely car with all the leather and toys, and the tiptronic is a joy.

Only fault I have found is that the autobox doesnt pick up properly in (2nd?)
if I floor it from a standing start...it changes at about 6k rpm, and then burbles a little erratically and doesnt pick up. If I use tiptronis mode and accelerate hard from standing still in the same way (manually change at 6k) it is absolutely fine... bit puzzling and not a real problem as I doubt there will be many time I ever use the kickdown like this from a standing start... but curious if its a common thing...
Didnt even test it on the test drive !!

You don't say how many miles it's done but the box will need a fluid change anywhere from 40k-60k miles as the stated 60k interval is stretching things. Failing that, maybe worth a diagnostic check.
I'd do a bit of reading up here on this forum about the V6 as you'll need to keep quite a close eye on a lot of things & do regular maintenance with good quality parts (definitely not Britpart). A CR-V this aint & fuel consumption is usually the least of your worries.

We bought a 53 V6 SE Pemium, not bothered about mpg as we are not going to do many miles. Famous last words - now doing 500 expensive miles / week.

Suggest you avoid using the sunshine roof as the mechanism is fragile. If the sat nav gives trouble fit a new battery, preferable the TD4 size.
Check the cars history - has the cambelt been changed? If not you should have withheld £600-£800 when you bought it as the change is now due on age alone and that it what it will cost if things like thermostat housings, etc, are replaced at the same time.
Check the coolant level weekly, unfortunately the V6 is allergic to coolant and will try to spit it out wherever it can, ours has now found a hole in the heater matrix - a £600 job to replace if LR had a matrix which they haven't. They are on back order. Why a heater matrix should fail after just 6 years I don't know.
A lovely quick car if you can afford to run it, much smoother and quieter than my TD4 Auto. Incidentally our Jatco's are fine, no need to touch the fluid.

Let us know what you find.

Jatco boxes are prone to slipping between gear changes - it is more noticeable when using the Sports Tiptronic mode and is a sign of prospective gearbox failure. I suggest you get the oil changed as quick as you can.

Oh and start saving yo pennies, coz yu wil need it.
