Can anyone tell me if the original front height sensors are the same left to right. Also when fitting replacement britpart sensor if there is any change in the wiring, my car has a chassis No of ma6599xx

Can't help but can you get Dunlop sensors instead?
I got dunlops for my replacements on the '38. I didn't hear any good things about britparts sensors....
 
Thanks I have the part numbers from a copy of landrovers parts manual but it only goes to year 1994. I have fitted a britpart sensor but it does not test correctly with a meter, in fact it tests as if the wires going to each end of the coil are reversed, which is why asked if anyone had had the same problem with my age of car. As for swopping sides I read a post somewhere on the forum thanking someone for the tip but could not find a follow up. Britpart I have not had to use before but they seem to be the only source now.

It's just a potentiometer used as a potential divider, much like a knob on a stereo

The RRC has a 3pin connector the sensor itself looks similar to the P38s IIRc.

Looking at the sensors online they look almost exactly like the P38 units. hmm
 
No change in part number for these sensors(2 x ANR1853) The ‘94 parts catalogue actually covers 95 models as there were no changes for ‘95. The catalogue is specific that it covers MA chassis prefixes from 647645. I am told that when a sensor has ‘sat down’ it can be necessary to jack up the chassis to reset the sensor, have you tried this?

Thanks for info, my parts info is from 2004 and shows what appears to be the only available new parts you can obtain now. I've tried one of these but after fitting, it looked faulty when tested from the ECU connector. I've checked the wiring to the unit and that is ok, the unit itself looks to be faulty and so I have returned it to the supplier to be checked. While I was checking it I noticed it looked good if you put your meter between the centre and and the other end of the coil, which prompted my question regarding reversal in wiring and the thought as to whether this unit can be used on both sides as they are supplied with the differently marked connecting cables, red for left, green for right.

I am wondering whether it is possible to have the sensors the wrong way around?
As the two sensors are identical they will both need to be mounted so that lifting the car, dropping the wheels, turns both rheostats the same way (clockwise I think).
 
The original anr1853 part fits both sides and the arm rotates through 360 deg. When you swop sides it twists laterally so top / bottom remain the same the wiring is the same but rotation is clockwise on right and anti clockwise on left. The stc3733 and stc3734 arms however only move 180 deg. so if they were used them on the other side they would they rotate vertically and the top and bottom would reverse requiring a reversal in the wiring and hence differently marked cables in the kits and different kit numbers.
