A faulty cap, on the crank?.
Anyone else got any ideas, dunno what that means, unless its summat to do with the oilways causing a pressure loss.

maybe they mean crankcase breather, can't imagine it being a pressure loss with dodgy oilways more likely overpressure if oilways were blocked.LEE

Yep that makes more sense.
I wondered if there was somethink fancy in the end of the crank to stop off a drilling for the oilways or somethink.

Landy is knocking again! Only had it back about 3-4 weeks!

This time wsa in slow moving traffic as I was the last time, crawling forwards and then the kncoking starts again! Should there be any reason that this should happen when I am in traffic, with the stop start that goes with it???

Oh dear, not having a good time are you.
Does your landy have an oil pressure guage, if so does it read what it usually does?.
Maybe the oils getting hot in traffic and the pressures dropping, or maybe its the old problem back.
Better go and see the geyser who sorted it last time.

Nope, not having any luck at all!!

There is a temperature guage that is always showing normal! Spoken to the guy that did the work last time and he has said to bring it in and they will look at it again. They replaced the crankshaft pulley last time and that should have fixed the problem. He thinks there could be a problem with a part they used but to look at it would mean taking the engine out again I would expect which will be more cost to me I imagine. Ah well, will take it up to him and see what he thinks the new problem is!

I had best avoid slow moving traffic and always drive above 10mph at this rate! Will be cheaper!

I dont have much time in on the old landy engine, but I've worked on the marine version, I must say I find it very odd that the crank pulley would have any relationship to this problem.
Maybe theres an oilway on the end of the crank or something and the pulley covers it, if that was the case I'd expect your landy to be making a bigger oil patch than normal.
Sure one of the other guys will be along soon with some more info.
