Hi Guys, just joined the group and thanks for accepting me, just bought my second Range Rover sport (2010 3.0tdv6) and after scouring online it scared I have a BIG issue. I’m not getting much heat from the vents, the passenger side is cold and the drivers is lukewarm. This is when the engine is up to temp and heaters on full and High, so far my research has pointed to a blocked heater core, and will be expensive to fix. Has anyone had similar or could offer advice?

I think you may find that there is a water control valve that is a common failure item. Others who know more about your model will be along.

First off run a diagnostic on the HVAC module.
It could well show up codes for blend motors, which is what controls the temperature of the air exiting the heater unit. You might have additional codes for diverter motors too, which is what controls where the air goes after the heater unit.

Update, I’ve just plugged the computer back in and there’s no codes on the HVAC, also ran stepper motor and function tests and they both passed. I’m pretty convinced there’s no air in the cooling system either.
 
Have you changed the cabin filters or at least looked to see if they are clogged with stuff.
Also does the fan respond to the control, can you turn the fan to full speed?

Alas as mentioned the heater matrix can and does block up causing those systems

if all else fails others have used with great success a compressed air / water gun to blow / flush junk out of the heater matrix in situ after removing both hoses at the bulkhead

Thanks for the info guys, Looks like i'm gonna have to go down that route, Does anyone know any guys that could do this in the central scotland area? Also, Has anyone been successful with a cleaning addative?

Enquire about hydrogen cleaning. I've had a good few successful treatments work so far with the machine I have in the garage ;)
 
I haven’t yet. I checked the temps with a thermal gun earlier after a 10 minute drive home from work. One was 65c and the other was about 55c, I’ll check again tomorrow as I was in a rush. I’m assuming it can only be a blocked core or the solenoid is stuck on the valve?

The valves are a known problem.
