It's most likely the rheostat control that adjusts the fan speed. When they are going bad they only run at full speed. On my RRC it is a real chore to get to.

So not an easy fix? I've changed full heaters before, but would it be a simple heat unit swap? Also very new so unsure what a RRC is... sorry if im a bit dim haha

It's the resistor pack that's the problem and on the classic it's in between the cowl and the bonnet. Some go through the front vent to get to it. It's not on the heater control console. Check for videos on line.

OP has a Disco2 if it makes a difference?

From my research, it looks like it's behind the glove box in the Disco 2.

I've not had to do the resistor, just the heater control on a RRC and D1.
