Hi Guys,

I am very new to all this my first repair job has gone well. I replaced my tailgate widow motor and winding frame. It was a success. Now my next project is my heating fan. It will sometimes work and sometimes it won't or it will suddenly come on. I think I need to replace it. Any ideas. It is an 02plate 3 door 2ltrTDI.

Kind regards

Kieran.

Check it on max speed. If it works fine on max then you will likely need to replace the resistor pack. Easy to do. ;)
Oh it's prudent to replace the pollen filter at the same time, as a blocked filter will cause the resistor to fail more quickly.

Thanks Nodge68. I will do that. Where is the resistor pack located. I couldn't find it in the Haines workshop book. I have found the pollen filter. Sorry for being so thick.

Resistor is located on the right of the heater assembly. If you look left of the clutch pedal, you will see a plug with 4 wires fitted to the side of the heater casing. Behind the plug is the resistor pack, held in place by a couple of screws. It's an easy job to replace ;)

Could be an auto :D

have you found the bit to unscrew?
I had to lay in the footwell on my back to get to it,lol
just re solder the new bits one at a time as you remove the old ones, easy job
