hi guys, my disco td5 is only blowing like warm air. Coolant is up to the mark, engine temp reading ok and thermostat seems to be working fine. Tried bleeding the water coolant system yesterday but heater still not blowing hot air. I did notice there is very little or no pressure on the top rad hose when the engine is hot. Thought it would have had a bit of pressure in it. Any help would be great as it’s bloody freezing.

Cheers guys

What do you mean by engine temp reading OK? did you measure the actual temperature? the gauge goes to the middle at 70*C and if the thermostat is stuck open the coolant temp will stay close to that and then the air is no very hot either

Water temp gauge sits in the middle but only the slightest bit of warmth being blow out through the heater
It's fair to say that the water temperature gauge on the Disco 2 is nothing more than a temperature presence indicator. All it shows is that the engine is warmer than the ambient temperature and any relationship to the actual temperature is purely coincidental. A word of warning here too, the gauge can indicate that everything is OK even while the engine boils itself to death and only indicate that it's too hot after the damage has been done. Not good!
The Td5 engine does take longer to warm up fully than say a petrol engine and it's for those reasons that @sierrafery asked about the actual operating temperature of the engine.

After driving 30 miles I would imagine the engine temp to be at its max. I don’t do short runs where the engine might not be up to full working temperature.
why did you ask of you are so sure? as long as you dont know the real temp and youn are relying on the gauge you are lost ... i tried to explain you something and i feel like you ignore facts...if the thermostat is stuck open the engine will never get to normal operating temps unless you are in Sahara or tow something big for at least 50 miles

There's your answer, get a caravan, fill it with bricks and tow it behind your motor. Soon be nice and toasty.
