I've been having problems starting my 300Tdi since it got colder (when it is stone cold) and on inspection the heater plug nearest the bulkhead has fallen to bits internally in that the bit that the wire attaches to is not connected to the rest. Anyway I ordered 4 new ones and I've just fitted them and all appears well but....

The one 2nd from the bulkhead was running in fresh engine oil, does that one go into an oil galley?

I have no other issues with the engine whatsoever so hoping that it isn't a problem about to happen.

Fresh engine oil or diesel?

If it's oil you got big problems, but if it's doozil it means your glow wasn't glowing!

Thanks. The maxi fuse had blown when the heater plug off the cylinder next to the bulk head self destructed. It appears that the "oil" was soot mixed with diesel so it should be ok now. But found my anti freeze checker and there is virtually no anti freeze in it! Now I need to change the coolant urgently!
