Hi there looking for a bit of advice again i think i have a problem with the heater plugs on my p38. It doesn't want to start in the mornings all of sudden, when up till now it has always started first time after several attempts ie preheating two, three times it then starts and is then fine for the rest of the day, i'm wondering how difficult they are to change myself or do i need to have them done at the garage, any advice appreciated as always many thanks in anticipation.

Easy job, inlet manifold off and good access. Should take an hour or less ,maybe more on the first attempt.
just be gentle removing them , they have been known to snap off in the head.
Some plusgas or the like and take it easy when undoing them

Inlet manifold off. Good tools, it is an easy job. If you know what you are doing. If you don't leave it to some who does.

You'll need a set of hex keys, 3/8 deep sockets, extension bars and a wobbler (universal joint) and long nose pliers. It's not difficult but some of them are difficult to get to so you'll have to remove the inlet manifold.

Connection the feed wires is the biggest pain because the wire twists round as you tighten the nuts.

It may be worth trying to get some penetrating oil into the threads before removing the old ones. Try not to use force. I had one plug break in the head.

This free advice comes from an absolute mechanical klutz.

It's pretty much the same as changing spark plugs except for their location not being helpful.

Yup, just think of them as slightly fragile spark plugs.

Plusgas - just to save Wammers the bother.

A quick google of Plusgas v WD40 brings this site up! Seems to be a big issue among the tratter boys.

There's some voices in favour of Q20. I'd never heard of it but as a water displacer, you can't say they don't put their money where their mouth is.

Q20 Power Drill WORKING IN WATER??!! - YouTube

I think I might get a few cans and start at the headlights and work backwards.

Well it won't will it. Electrical bits (brushes/armature) were not in the water. Fan draws air in from top past armature and brushes so keeps them clear of water. Bit of a trick up if you ask me. Not that i am going to try it mind. :D:D:D

If plugs dont do the trick then your in tank pump is knackered
Also can you still buy plus gas or do you have to buy a release agent
