Freelander 1 Heater not getting hot

hi bit late to the party on this thread but if anyone is still trying to find a solution i came up with a work around after my freelander 1 heater was about as much use as a ice cube , engine temps all normal no leaks , no air trapped in system but pulling in lots of cold air , removed insert from glove box to gain access to the recirculation valve turned it on and when about half closed pulled the plug out , enough outside air to stop misting but no enough air to blast through the matrix without heating anything , cabin air is now toasty warm.
