i have a d2 td5 200 vintage and got a feeling the flap that controls the flow of air through the heater matrix when heat is required or closes it of when cooling is required is not operational, heat is no problem but when cooling is required cant get it cool even with the aircon, which is fine if you start up from cold air is icy but gets warmer as the engine temp builds, all the other flaps for where the air goes i.e. screen feet vents etc. work fine, is there a fuse for this flap or are they vacuum controlled any help much appreciated.

no individual fuse...the blend flaps are controlled by a servo motor, run a diagnostic on it, maybe u get fault 33 ...then you'll know.

then the flap is not "comunicating " with the servo motor for some reason... the diagnostic covers just the cases when there are changes in the current draw...maybe the motor is working normally but it doesnt 'engage' that blend flap which controlls the air inlet duct...this is the most common...unfortunately it's an assembly out job which is quite fiddly

you have one shot though....maybe you're lucky: "FROM LAND ROVER: If the customer complains of a continuance of hot air from vents after HVAC is turned off: advise customer to set both sides to LOW and wait 10 seconds before turning HVAC off. This will allow blend door motors to shut air passage ways through heater core. Incoming air will be the temperature of outside air."

Cheers once again sierra aircon is fully gassed and seems fine icy cold on start up gets progressivly warmer as engine temp rises.

My aircon stopped working a few months ago. It has a leak in the condensor which I was planning to get fixed sometime soon..................however.................since it stopped working I had been feeling, during the recent hot spells, that however you set the heating controls it seemed like the air coming in from the vents was hotter than the ambiant air outside!!! No evidence, just what I have been thinking......perhaps it is just my age.......hot flushes!!

it's normal as long as you dont have cold air supply... the air from outside comes through the engine bay...and also the coolant is constantly circulating through the heater matrix
