heater fan trouble ?

Hi, my p38 has just thrown up the book symbol on the hevac panel. it seems that the passenger side fan comes on full as soon as the ignition is turned on, the drivers side seems to operate correctly via the speed control and the demist programs and everything else seems to work ok. is this a common problem ? is it likely to be the hevac control panel playing up or the passenger fan?? any ideas please.

Get the ecu read and it will give the fault

Could be the green relay in the engine bay bay fusebox. Check for burning. Swap the relay for another green one to troubleshoot. Common fault as the relay contacts weld themselves together due to the high current they handle.

There are two fan relays, one for each side. They sit next to each other in the fusebox.

A new relay is about a tenner...a new HEVAC about 50 times that !!!!
