Hi, just fitted a new fan switch on my 110, no problems so far. Before this somebody else had fitted an old fan switch of a S3. The fan on my 110 is seized and I am about to change it aswell but before I start stripping things I want to see the replacement in full working order beforehand.
Right, on the wires under the dash there are 3 which go on the fan switch, a black wire a green/grey and a green/yellow. I am presuming that the black wire goes onto the earth tag on the switch? which way round do the other two wires plug on? does the green and yellow go to the top connection or the bottom one? same for the green and grey, top or bottom. They are close together near the bottom of the fan switch.
I had the fan out of the replacement heater unit to clean it up and tried it directly onto a battery, it works perfect, depending which wires you connect onto the battery the fan would run at half or full speed and this was without any resistor connected (this is in the housing) I had the fan right out and in my hand.
When I was checking the wires under the dash with a multi meter it was saying I only had 6.9 volts? I think this could be a bad earth problem and can try a new earth just to see if it works. It's just the correct wiring of the switch wires to start with I need to know if anybody knows.
Thank you all if you can advise.
