Heater blower 300tdi (just in time for winter)

Hi guys

So last night I was using my heater and was nice and toasty. Today it's not working ha!

Here's where I'm up to. I've checked the fuse near the gear stick all seems ok. I've ran a positive from the battery to the wire just before it goes into the riveted box and the motor is 100% working. As soon as I connect a positive to it. It fires up full speed.

I've taken the dash out and checked the switch near the steering column but it's not getting any power. So I'm lost ha! Any pointers guys?

Are you getting power to the fuse near the gear stick?
There is another fuse in the engine bay, but it's a 60amp one!
Are you testing the switch with the ignition on? You won't get any power at the switch unless the ignition is on.

On another note.
If your location is where you say it is, that's a very small place. If someone likes the sound of your Landy, they could find it very easily. Much better to use a generic location or something amusing.

hmmm i'll check the 60amp fuse but i doubt its that ha!

yea that's my location but its well off the beaten track and i've got plenty protection around the farm

Isnt therea resistor in the bottom of the heater box, but I think that only for speed one and speed two is direct battery voltage.
I had the switch earth wire fall off the switch inside the dash binnacle that took some finding.

on the switch behind the binnacle there is 3 wires going into the switch. two at the bottom and one at the top. is that right or should it have an oath to it also?

The two close together will be the green and green with yellow tracer, speed 1 and speed 2 respectively. The other wire should be the earth.

There is a resistor that varies the speed, hope it's not that as they are ridiculously expensive, not sure how you can test this either.

I found that eating half a dozen cans of baked beans before a journey in my Defender provided more warm air than the heater could ever muster!
