Heated steering wheel.. do I actually have one? How to turn it on?

I recently bought a 2012 SD4 HSE Freelander 2 which has all the standard stuff for a 2012 SD4 HSE and mentions Heated Steering Wheel.

So, the heated seats are easy as there's a self explanatory image on a button in the middle of the temperature dials on each side but the steering wheel..?

I have Cruise control buttons on the left only, they have a set button which doubles as a +/- and a cancel/resume button below.

On the right are the audio controls, they have Mode at the top, a Volume up and down below that, ffd, rew controls below that and then on the underside of the wheel are the phone buttons, one green which activates a voice dial and one red for hang up.

So, no indication of how to turn on the heated steering wheel and nothing in the books.. the specs say the vehicle should have it but I have no idea if it actually does from what I can see. I've had the heated seats on and I can't say that I've noticed that the wheel warms alongside the driver side.

Anybody know for sure about this model?

Yes, thanks, as I mentioned there doesn't seem to be a button near my phone controls or anywhere else that relate to heated steering wheel.

I did a little searching and found that thread already but thanks anyway hd3.

I think you will find that there are a few things in the manual that are actually options not standard as I found out on my 2011 GS, I spoke to a friend that works for landrover and he said the handbook is very good at showing you what you haven't got, according to my radio it has digital written on the fm button but has no digital radio

But that's the weird thing, the handbook doesn't mention it at all but the specs on the HSE model for the year say it has it and I'm pretty sure it stated it in the documentation at the dealership. I have a mate though that has an earlier Freelander 2 that mentioned the same thing on the stereo, his says digital radio also but doesn't have it. Mine actually does have the DAB radio.

The 2011 had the digital button but no digital as Landrover weren't happy with its operation but 2012 got it right so they fitted it

Heated steering wheel are we not men anymore.

When the heated wheel is retrofitted to the Discovery 3, it's wired into an ignition live. This would mean it's heated all the time. I've no idea on the FL2 though.

On the later FL2 the heated steering wheel switch is on the rhs of the steering wheel, slightly behind the wheel. Switch on/oft as required.

it would be off for me all the time but the wife would have it on

Thanks for this Mark, I've just got a 2011 FL2 GS which has the FM/Digital button and the handbook implies that its got DAB but 3rd press only gives FM1 again so i guess DAB isnt there
