Just fitted a half leather/ half suade interior from a 2005 model into my 99 model.

Is it possible to get the heated seats working ??

If so how ??

Done a search but can only find answers relating to the later TD4s which had the wiring already in place.

Is this the case for my 99 model also or will I have to wire up from scratch ??

wiring is all there (well, should be anyway)

plug the seats in and fit some switches, should work.

One of the lads at work done it last week with no problems.

How far back is the wiring

ie under console near gear stick or up near radio ???

thanks

I dont have any wiring on my '98 model, so doubt yours will be there.

I would have a look at the wires - if you have 2 per seat for example then one will be positive and one negative. You could obtain the switches and create a loom yourself.

Questions: Did the interior come out of a scrapped car?? If so try and get the switches and loom. If it was slod removed them you may have to make your own.

2nd: Where did you get your interior from if you dont mind me asking. I'd like to do the same (and have done on other cars). I have been looking at Simpson Salvage :: York :: as they break a lot of vehicles.

Steve

Paid £300 from e-bay (Autoline breakers in Stafford) Car only done minimal miles - 2005 reg

The chap I dealt with there, Iain, is a top bloke.

They have 3 other freelanders in for breaking at the moment.

For my money I got all the seats (black - half leather/suade, all 4 door cards, door furniture, centre armrest console and the console with the heater controls etc.

The problem with door cards are as follows:

door pulls are different position but shouldnt be a problem?

Door opening handles are in a different position (about an inch)

Also for the rear doors I think I may have to fit elec windows cos I dont think the door handle gives enough room for the window winder.

So far ive fitted the seats but need to sort out their heating.

Ive fitted the arm rest console

Working on door cards

And would really like to fit bit round heater with all the new type switches - problem there is I think all the switches have different connectors and also id need to find somewhere to mount a hazard light switch and then buy a double din radio !!!

Seats are fantastic though - firm with lots more support - oh and they look great !!!

hello there guys, saw this part of the forum and thought it would be good to ask a question.

I have just sold my 2004 mini one diesel and bought an 2001 freelander. I am looking to buy leather seats and put them in, will this car have the wiring? and also do all leather seats have the heating elements?

thanks

das

Hi Das, i have an 03 1.8 serengheti and just fitted leather seats the wiring was all there ,you need to remove lower facia just to check the 2 connecting blocks are there ,takes about 15 minutes then look under the seat if you see cables with connectors on the end under both seats then your in luck.

the only thing you will need to buy is 2 switches , heater pads for both seats
and 2 relays one for each seat.
