Hi everyone
Just thought you would like to know I finally fitted those retro heated seats. Its certainly labour intensive and you do have to remove the centre console but the result is very worthwhile and looks the part. I got the german ones with the two heat settings--no complaints.I added a couple of 12v sockets whilst I was at it.

I have had a problem with the front wipers two or three times over the last month--namely that they will not switch off interval mode at all ,but if you switch the ignition off they are then ok --untill the next time! Is my MFU on the way out?--Any thoughts would be appreciated
Many thanks

Good to know you got them fitted. How did you manage with the hog rings and fitting the pads?

My heated seats never went anywhere - I've managed without them but it would have been nice. Weirdly the leather in my Disco seems less freezing cold to sit on than the leather in my Golf (which is heated). That really makes you sit up straight on a cold morning!

Unfortunately I have tested the switch and its OK so it is probably the mfu which I think is about £300!
Turning to the hog rings and the electric pads, my kit came with pads that had a 'window' over the lower of the two wires with hog rings so you only had to take out and replace the two middle rings on the lower fix and the top of the pad I hog ringed direct to the top wire. I bought hog rings and specific pliers from Amazon. l may never use them again but they only cost £15!
I found it impossible to do without using the sort of strength that you would expect to damage the seat but it doesn't. I have a friend who was worried he would break the seat fitting new hog rings so used wire ties instead. Great job to start with but they broke after a year or so and he had to fix it again.
Thanks both for your input.
Best
