Heated seat upgrade

Well Ive been putting it off since the spring so seeing as the weather is on the turn I finaly did the heated seats yesterday. Id already fixed the drivers one a couple of years ago so I know its a pain of a job. This time I made it even harder by swapping the seat bases over at the same time (looks much better).The thing I found though was if you are just fixing the heated element where it breaks in the middle part of the seat base you should also check the connections on the thermostate as even though the drives one still worked the terminals were very corroded, the passanger one was broken off completly and had burnt throught the foam. Ive fitted 45 degree thermostates this time and its makes a world of difference. Took me about 5 hours but thats a complete strip of both seats and fit new thermostates. Worth it though, parts were only a couple of quid.

Do the new stats make the seats heat up quicker as well as hotter?

Is ebay the place to get the stats from?

It's not a difficult job if you remove the seat from the car and put it on a work bench, cut the metal hog rings rather than trying to unthread them and then, when rebuilding, replace them with cable ties fitted loosely until you've got them all in then tighten them. I did both my seats in under three hours.

Yeah got new thermostats from eBay. Came from Hong Kong. And yes I used cable ties their much easier than the hog rings. Not sure if they heat up quicker but they stay hotter longer when turned off as they get much hotter when on. You can definitely feel the difference.

Can't copy link on my phone but Google this. 250v 10A ksd302 45°c NC. Just checked and I got them off amazon.

Once seen a prog about pork scratchings being made, only 3 stages as far as i remember,,,

1. Deep fry (mmmmm)
2. Season
3. Remove Nipples

Don't recall them mentioning Hog Rings, but it may have been Pre-watershed...

Standard 25C or 77F is set for a reason. It has to do with comfort AND maybe more importantly NOT degrading the seat materials. 45C or 113F is just too hot for comfort unless you are intent on growing piles the size of grapefruits. Will also quickly degrade seat cushions and leather. Not to mention the heating elements themselves.

I cant see any below 45C. You know of anywhere that does the 25C ones, or lower than 45 C?

Just keep the ones you have fitted to the seats.

Temperature dependant I think, not sure as as soon as I got it I disconnected them.
