Heated rear windscreen

Hi guys,

Bit off an issue with the heater for the rear windscreen on my 03 td4. The light doesn't come on and it won't heat. I have checked the fuse and it is fine.

My local mechanic was looking at the heating matrix a few weeks back as it has seized. Is it possible that he has damaged the wiring behind the console? Or is the wire for the windscreen nowhere near the heating matrix?

Anything is possible re. wiring behind console, often though the problem is the wiring and terminals on the rear window itself, they tend to break off the back of the glass.

If he took the panel off to check the mech might have pulled the wires of the rear window

is your rear window fully up?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago so checked the connections behind the rear door panel and they were ok. I then used a test light on the filaments and found some were slightly worn through on the bottom - it looks like as the window goes up and down they wear away. I bought some liquid solder from Maplin, painted 2/3 coats on offending areas and everything is now ok.
