Hi team once again the Landie wiring is puzzling me. Defender 90 county 1989.
Does anyone know where and what type the relay is that controls the heated rear window? Does anyone know when turned on how long before relay switches off. Thanks Rich

On my 110 is was on for as long as the switch was on. It is located somewhere in the dash behind the switch somewhere, and again in think it is just a standard relay.
I almost replaced mine, but i took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts and it worked fine, i'm assuming you have an issue with yours?

Yes this all started with the replacement of rear window- faulty elements and leaking. Thus enabling me to get the heated rear window going but the rear heater panel light only stays on for 4 mins and goes off. There is no voltage on leads when light off. So fault either wiring This seems okay so switch or relay?

Erm it could have had a retrofitted timer relay, when u switch it off and on again does it come on immidiately? If not, then I would suspect the relay is faulty. Mine just used to stay on. I can scan u the wiring diagram for it if you want.

Double check it int behind the fuse holder thing, but I think it's either the big yeller un or the little un next to it, mines a truck cab so ant got them wired in. the black box and the relay next to it higher up are the dim/dip voltage reducer and the headlight relay. IM000437.JPGYou can just get to em by taking the instrument panel off.

Thanks For all your help I will post the results - I now know I have another hours work to keep from the "happy hour" indoors!

The relay is the yella one and its a pain to get at even when you remove the clocks. It does a voltage check apparently when you switch it on to check there is enough power for the element. mine had a break in the earth wire which was causing to work/not work intermittently
