So I just picked up a N reg 4.0l V8.
Its ok, front brakes were non-existant and caliper slides seized up......but the muppet has peeled the headlining off the backing board, how hard is it to remove the fitted board now? Is it really just a case of removing the pillar trims and out it drops??

look in the How to section, Dopey did a write up on recovering the headlining if I remember it down the bottom if the page.

Dopey's write up in invaluable. I would change one thing though. If doing the sunroof sunshade, it's easier to get at this by going in from the top. Just take the sunroof glass out and follow RAVEs instructions.

All the pillar trims, all the courtesy lamps, and the grab rails have to come off.

Then all the rubber door seals have to be pulled off to about halfway.

Fold the seats all the way flat, and then it's a case of gentle bending and sliding the backing board out of the boot.

Pretty easy, but you need two people to help with supporting the board whilst pulling, twisting and sliding it out.

Two people will also help with gluing the new headlining in place. Get one person to hold the new material (just) taught above the glued board whilst you gently press it down in to all the nooks and crannies.

I used a nylon "foam backed scrim" headlining material, and it blunts Stanley blades very quickly when trimming. If you use it, buy a box of blades. You'll get through 10 of them easy.

Also, buy some cotton gloves. It'll keep everything clean, and stop you nicking the material with calloused hands, or glue spills.

How thick is the backing material? I think someone said they were using drawing pins? I like the idea of padded pins to look like a quilted couch. :)
Mine is pinned up with standard plastic trim studs giving a sort of quilted effect, It would look better if they were not black. I can't be bothered to re-trim it, I use it to illustrate the quality of LR products and as long as it's not sitting on my head I don't care:):)

After reading this post i went and sat in the back of mine and looked up :(
drawing pins.......they would just be temporary..........till I picked a day to retrim it all..........they dont look that bad do they?
