headlight wont turn off

hi all i got a 1990 discovery 200tdi and when i turn the lights off on the switch they all go out except for the dip beam lights i have been unplugging the loom under the bonnet so the battery dont go flat! any ideas? oh and i cant find the relay for them.

Sounds like either the switch is faulty, or an earth fault.

First thing I would check is the switch - dont think its an earth prob tho they can throw up some pretty weird faults. Try taking the appropraite fuse out n see if they go out then. If so is almost certainly the switch or wiring loom.

Early disco headlamp wiring is notoriously rubbish. Could be the switch but they don't fail too often. More likely to be some wires rubbing where they shouldn't be. Have a fiddle about with the loom and all the connections around the lights see if it makes any difference.
