I have tried searching everywhere but I can't find much information on these.

I want to replace the surrounds on my 90 as they have faded and gone grey, however they are the older style that require 6 screws and they are not held in place by the indicators and sidelights as with the new style ones.

Does anyone know if you can retrofit the newer style black ones to pre 94 Land Rovers? On mine the panel just fits over the top of the sidelight and indicator as you can see from the picture below. Do you think I could just get the newer style one and make the holes bigger or is it possible to fit the newer style sidelights and indicators to the pre 94 land rovers?

If they're not broken, then get yersel' some primer suitable for plastic and spray them any colour ye want like ah did;)

Forgot tae say ah used Satin black;)

I did the same after busters advise some time ago. I used that plasticote stuff, satin black, came out really well. Grill and light surrounds done in no time. much better.

Cheers for the help, found a few products on B&Q website...will this primer be ok:
Primer
Then should I use either the Super Satin Black - Super Satin Black
Or the fast dry enamel flat black - Enamel Flat Black

Ah 'think' the super satin black should be fine, not sure about the primer tho' as ah don't think ah've used it before on plastic. If it says it's suitable then it might be fine...... maybe one for Griff to answer;)

This is what ah used on mine...

and the back of the primer tin....

note where it says about suitable for rigid plastics;)

Excellent cheers, picked some clear coat plastic primer up from B&Q along with the super satin black spray. Just wet and dryed it down and put 2 coats of primer on now just got to wait an hour to spray the satin black on and i'll take some pictures of the results good or bad :)

Cheers again for all help

Nice one, look forward tae the photies;)

Don't see why not, but 'back to black' does the job - but might need reapplying every few months

That's what I used on my grill and headlamp surrounds - not quite as smart as Buster's, but far better than the faded grey look!

Thanks, I used back to black on them last year and on my headlight surrounds, I got them black again but they faded again within a few months, as you say I'll need to re-apply, it's just annoying that they just fade far too quickly

I've given this a go now with the same pro-cote spray, see pics for results. Also did it on my galvanised rear x member as I didn't like the silver shine. I used some T-wash and etching primer first. Seems to have come out well though. Just need to sort out the bumper :)

I used the pro-cote red primer on the grill and head lamp surrounds and then satin black pro-cote. It was really simple, I used back to black loads of times last year when I first got it and within a year its grey again. Hopefully this will last a bit longer. It looks like they haven't even been painted.
