headlamp level device

Hi, like a dick I mistakenly pulled the headlamp level device from the back of the headlight on my 03 Freelander, and now can't get it to re-engage into the V in rear of inner light unit. The lamp inner has dropped forward too much inside the assembly for the plastic lever to engage in the V which enables it to adjust up and down. I don't think if I removed the whole headlamp assembly I would be able to get the lever back into its mating V! Hoping for some miraculous cure! If not, thanks for reading anyway.Mike.

I'm not sure what freelander head lights are light, but i've done this on many other cars to get the motor back in you need to remove the bulb cover and headlight bulb you can then get your finger in the reflector part of the light and pull it towards the back of the light unit to get the motor back in.
