Hi

Sorry another question from me.....I have been scouring ads etc in readiness for buying my first Disco. Set my heart on an ES TD5 model now. One thing I have noticed is most of the ES models seem to have the standard "square" headlights. Then I see some GS/XS models with the really nice cluster design? Its not as if they are newer as some of the ES models are just as new but seem to have the older design?

Was this another optional extra to upgrade?

On another note my mate who is in the trade and been keeping an eye out for me has spotted a W plate Disco TD5 Millenium edition. Its got about 77k on the clock, full service history, 7seater etc. Its apparently "mint" but have not seen it myself .....he said he can get it for me for £7900.

Most retail I have seen are about £8999 but I have seen comparative private sales for around the same price.....is this a good deal do you reckon? Does not seem overly cheap compared to Parkers prices etc but they always seem a tad low.

Do you mean the new headlights for the 2003 model year? I think some old stock took longer to sell there is no definite change over point in registration numbers when the newer lights were fitted, never offered as an optional upgrade as far as I know. Many owners like myself have fitted the later ones though. See my guide here -

Yeah thats them.....so its just people changing them over themselves? It does make the wagon look far nicer I have to say

Hi the millennium edition TD5 will be cheaper on road tax as it wont fall in to the chancellors new banding system which came in in 2001.
I've owned the same model for the last 18 months and their excellent cars, but heres a couple of things you'll want to check out. Ask about the injection harness, the early ones weren't very good and allowed engine oil to leak along it and into the main engine harness which you don't want, a new one costs about £30. the ACE pipes are another area worth checking out on a Disco of that age they run along the drivers side of the chassis and can get quite corroded from road salt check out the bends for weak spots they'll set you back a few hundred if they go so make sure there in good nick. Hope its a good un they are great cars:D
