Evening All,

Ok found a small leak from the bottom of the expansion tank!

I will be picking one up in the morning, any pointers for the replacement?

That may be because we don't know what disco you will be working on. But I can't see any issues what ever the vehicle, just undo the clips and remove the hoses, undo whatever is retaining the tank to the inner wing, how you wish to remove and if to keep the coolent is up to you.
When the new tank is fitted top up and bleed the cooling system if and as required for your vehicle.
All standard stuff :)

Ooopps, sorry its a 300Tdi Disco P reg, I thought as much just wondered if there was anything I should try and avoid or do..

That's ok, topping up and air locks on the tdi is not an issue but it can happen so top up coolent via the plug on the water pump and at the top of the rad as well as filling the header tank.
Topping up as such may not be required, half fill the header tank run the engine, let things cool then top up the tank if required to the level, the seam around the tank is the level, but i know u know that :D

best to avoid trying to put the new one in till the old one's out.. I would try and undo it from the body before undoing the hoses so you can lift it a touch and lose less coolant.. but if youre coolant is over a year old might as well not bother with that and do a flush and change anyway..

Yes I will put as much new coolant in as i can, the stuff thats in there at the moment looks very ****ty! cheers for the advice

Go for the five year antifreeze it's red/pinkish but if you have the green/yellow of blue stuff then you must flush the whole system a few times as the five year stuff don't mix.
I use the Halfords five year antifreeze, so my 12 year old disco has only had it's antifreeze changed three times sofar.

brought some of the 5 year antifreeze really quite a simple tidy job.

3 nuts to remove,
Lift the old tank,
Undo small jubilee clips
Pull off hoses and let old coolant drain away
fit hoses to new tank
tighten jubilee clips
re-fit new tank 3 bolts
Half fill the header tank
Fire her up and leave for 20-30 seconds
top up as required.

Easy as that
