Sounds like the stalk is knackered again. How are the spots wired up? How many have you got? What wattage bulbs are in them? Did you fit a switched relay? Or have you just wired em direct to the Highbeam circuit on the headlamp wiring? Also have you fitted high wattage bulbs to the headlamps?

havent a clue how there wired, they was already fitted when i got it ,the lamps are branded ''ring' ring .... the stalk had a wire come off,i resoldered it this afternoon and once the lights have been on a while the spots go out and lights are perfect untill car has been standing again....gremlin springs to mind here ..

It sounds like your over loading the lighting circuit. each pair of spotlamps should be wired to a relay fed direct from the battery and the switched live should either be switched on/off in the cab or wired to the highbeam circuit. But they shouldn't be wired direct from the lighting circuit. Also if the headlamps have had 100watt bulbs fitted the extra loading can fry the stalk. You need to check the method used to wire the spots and the headlamp bulbs need checking. If you don't know what your looking for get someone local to you to have a look.

cheers for the advice m8 ,ile into my local chap tomorrow..there's only one set of spots btw and it appears they are wired into the main beams, there are 2 black relay? / fuses ? on the off side inner wind that have a series of red wires which i believe could be part of the circuit ..4 wires on each i believe...any help ?

Sounds like they're wired in correctly then. So probably not the spots causing the problem unless it's a faulty relay. As said earlier probably best getting em checked either way.

yup - sounds like a sticky relay - had the same problem meeself.
every time the relay terminals open, there's a momentary arc. if it's a cheep relay, this is enuff ter weld the terminals together lightly after a while. then the movement and vibration of driving will shake em free agin.
moral - dunt buy cheep relays - false ecomomy.

just a quick follow up,went amd spoke to a very nice chap at landrover in ashford kent,he checked under the bonnet and couldnt find anything wrong, spoke to another nice chap in the parts dept and asked for 12v 30amp doodah and he said i should get it checked by auto leccy first as cant refund on relay if fitted...got a couple a free pens a lr mug ..but ime digressing...got home and my new blue side light and headlight bulbs had a rrived off ebay, fitted them and touch wood no probs yet...could it have been a iffy bulb ?

btw..when landrover tech was looking at my wiring he asked if i like tea..i said i prefer coffee ta and he laughed, just behind off side part of bumper ,lo and behold is a kettle plug (3 pin) dangling ..its wired in ffs,ile take some pics tomorow..think ime gonna invest in a LR spotlight wiring kit and get them fitted proper loik.....
