Hi All
I'm new to Landy Zone and I'm looking for some help.
My 2003 4.4 V8 L322 has been sat over winter, undriven, unloved and generally ignored, as I have been driving my wifes Freelander 2 due to fuel costs.
It has thrown a sulk and decided to do this "only high beam tantrum".
When you turn on the side lights the seconary high beams come on until you switch the light stalk to high beam then they go off.
When you turn on the main lights the Xenon turns on to dipped and the second high beams are on regardless of the light stalk position.
When you then switch the light stalk to full beam the Xenon goes to high beam as well as the second high beams stay on.
Very difficult to drive at night as you can imagine.
I suspect it's a damp problem as it happend last winter for a short period during a very wet spell. This time it's not going away.
Does anyone have a clue as this could cost a fortune at an auto electical engineers.
I don't know if it's with the light check module or the main Body Electrical Control Module (BeCM).
My sun roof leaks and it has been suggested it may get into the 'A' pillars electrics. I have not found any obvious water ingress, other than the drips from the top light and sun roof control panel.
Thanking you in advance.
A lover of Range Rovers (other than the cost at the dealers)!

You probably have water in the LCM which is located under the right hand panel in the drivers footwell. I had strange things with the lights on my L322 when I bought it, a second hand unit on fleabay was about £60. If you decide to buy one make sure you get the correct one as it needs to work with Halogen or Xenon depending on whats fitted.

Diagnostics would probably give you a clue but as above regarding LCM, plenty of heater and air con to dry it out

Should also mention just in case you not aware the LCM holds the backup for the mileage so a second hand one would need recoding. If you don't have access to the diagnostics to change the VIN and mileage you will have to get a new one.

Thanks everyone. One thing I forgot to mention was that the battery went completly flat over winter so some of this may be the battery issue that i understand Range Rovers don't like.

Hi BeeMac, I would like to agree with all the above and strongly recommend the dehumidifier and battery full charge before spending money elsewhere. Be patient with the removal of all the dampness it took weeks on my car at first after buying from a dealer. Also keep at least a dehumidifier pillow in the car at all times, the passengers can bring in a lot on rainy days or wet boots. Have you checked the spare wheel space, it can also hold a fair size puddle? Good luck.
Tricky.

Hello again BeeMac, did you get to the bottom of you headlight mayhem? If so we could all benefit from your findings as many of us search for previous posts before starting a new one and having your information may help me sort my headlight fixed position. Cheers.
Tricky.
