head lights moving

hi all again
my head lights (well ns one) have a mind of its own.
turn lights on and ns one moves up down up down then its stays there.
but some times it moves whilst im driving and i find myself watching it go up and down anyway to sort it out i waited to the light was in the up position and pulled the motor wire of the light .
but now the adjuster light level switch dos not work (yes no wire to the motor)
is this a mot falier
ps idon't blind other road users unlike some cars out there

Is there not a mechanical, (wind it in or out), adjuster for setting the base line setting, then fine adjustments for load are done with the motor from the cabin?

if your lights are in the wrong position yes they will fail but some MOT inspectors will adjust them at no charge but have a good look first.

I noticed that the other day funnily enough but I put it down to my headlight being slightly loose as per once previously. Hmmm might have to investigate further. Was the RHS as well.

hi it was just the ns one playing around

There's a nut at the bottom of the headlight which likes to come loose. Mines done it many times. It now has a shake proof washer. It's a sod to get to but possible. Ere's how I did mine:

There's a white manual winder thing on top of the headlight motor, at the rear of the headlight. When you turn it it manually turns the motor to change the level of the headlight.

If the motor keeps going up/down constantly then it's probably like mine was. Feked. To test this swop the motors over from one headlight to the other, to see if the fault moves with the motor. If it does then it's yer motor. Naturally this test only works if one motor is ok and the other is suspect. The output of the motor is a peg which moves a thing on the rear of the headlight which it clips into to move the head light up/down. It's been 10 years since I did this... you somehow pull/turn the motor to release it, but the peg on the end of the motor which controls the headlight movement is still connected to the thing. With a bit of fun you can slide the peg out of the thing to fully release the motor.
