Hi everyone. I'm having to replace the cylinder head on my 300tdi, the original is cracked. Do I use the same 'hole number' head gasket . Mine had a ' no hole ' gasket, do I stick with that ? Thanks.

personally i would always measure piston protrusion and use correct gasket as otherwise you are trusting whoever fitted the last gasket to have done the job properly.

just found this
Protusion 0.50 - 0.60mm use a 1 hole gasket
Protusion 0.61 - 0.70mm use a 2 hole gasket
Protusion 0.71 - 0.80mm use a 3 hole gasket
Protusion 0.81 - 0.90mm use a gasket with no holes.

If your engine needs a 1 hole and you fit a no hole then compression and performance will be down

If you don't have a dti a flat edge and feeler gauges can do the job
