Head gasket for unknown engine

Hello everyone!

I have a Diesel Series 2a which I acquired last year and recently the beast was starting to show signs of a blown head gasket or worse... But the problem I'm having is I don't know what engine it is... I'm not the most mechanical minded person and I'm not the most knowledgeable on different engines, I have been trying to look up on Google and I've seen some engines which look similar and my dad thinks from a early Defender model. The guy who owned it in the late 80s did a lot of modifications and I still have all the receipts and order sheets etc but there is no sign of any diesel engines just a recon petrol engine for some reason. I really didn't want my first post to be a begging post but I'm left with no option, I have a link to some pictures so if anyone could take a look at them and see if they can identify what engine it is I would be most grateful.

There is some kind of serial which is NRC 2308 if that's anything to anyone.

it wont matter exaclty as block are all the same whether 2.25 or 2.5 ,order a 2.5 na diesel head gasket

Try looking on the side of the block under the manifold and behind the water pump - might be an engine number there.

Take the old one into local engineers, they should match it up.

2.5 all the diesels are the same but get later rather than early ie composite
