Had not joy with the purge, and put on a new air bleed valve.....still no good.

Bought a fuel pump today, so hopefully fit it at the weekend.

Hi All
An update, i have put in a new VDO fuel pump, and it still doesn't start!

The only thing i am concerned about is the copper washers on the injectors. In truth i wasn't to perticular when putting these on, so would any distorsion in these washer cause the none starting? It will start after lots of cranking but only run for 1 minute.

Obviously there is air in the system still, and both fuel pumps i have tried are noisy with squishy noises.

I'm ready to getting the sledge hammer out and modify it permenantly!!

Get yourself a small gerry can with fuel in it and run a short piece of hose from the injection pump straight to the can in the engine bay. Then try running it. That way you will rule out the whole fuelling system. If it runs fine from a petrol can then you need to work your way along the fuel lines/filter etc and see if you can find the issue. It might take a bit cranking to start the first time off the can but once the airs out it should be fine. Also try cracking injectors to bleed air out

the copper washers are a critical component in sealing the injector, use genuine LR ones and the injector seat has to be spotless, look down onto injector seat with a torch, any sign of carbon in there and its not clean enough

Forgot it was a td5 for injectors. Should still be able to run off a Gerry can providing its higher than the injection pump. Worth a shot anyway.

there is no injector pump as such, the fuel pump is in the fuel tank, from there it goes to a fpr, then to the head, where the fuel is fed to the injectors internally, and it needs a constant 4 bar to run correctly,

Ok thanks for the replies. I think i will start with the copper washers on the injectors tomorrow. I wasn't cleaning them to great, so i hope it is that.

Although it does run really nice for the minute it does run, so if the copper washers were not great, surely it would run at all?

I havent gpt nanocom. I put on a new fuel filter today and it makes the fuel pump less noisy.
But it still obly runs for a minute and cuts out. I did take off the fuel line at the front of the head, by the chain tensioner, and the fuel was very oily, so i have taken out the injectors again. I am going to replace the copper seals and rubber seals again. The injectors were easy to remove, where as they were a sod to remove last week when i changed the head over.

Finally sorted the problem. It was the copper washer seals on the bottom of the injectors.

The original ones where very tight whereas the new seals when over the injector point easy. Car start after a bit of cranking. It starts on the buttom now.
