Ok so i have a 300tdi (1994) manual. For alittle while its been losing coolant, but tnothing major. Anyways i have found an oil leak underneath the exhaust manifold. Its leaking from the head gasket. Also the car as started to let out a puff of white smoke from the exhaust when first started. Last two things are that the oil level always seems to be at max level or sometimes alittle over, without me adding any oil plus its also leaking. Lastly it has white smoke coming out of the oil filler(when the cap is removed). I have got a head set its a bearmach. So should i be worried with the other factors or is this just all aprt of the same thing. There is no oil and water mix, so maybe the coolant leak is on the exhaust side. Any ideas would be great.

Thought that myself, so i put some aircon die into the coolant, ran it up for 10 mins or so then checked alround with black light and no leak lol. Checked else where with this method aswell as checking for dried antifreeze and can't find anything.
 
check it yourself for now warped it is then - straight edge along length of cylinder head and see what size feeler guage you can slide under it, if above 4thuo in centre it needs skimming
 
could be fuel leaking past pistons when starting. has it been run on veg oil in the past as this can gum rings in a di if oil changes are not done often enough or engine not flushed when oil is changed.
 
I have run it on bio diesel three times in 12 months. She is due an oil change also. well about 2 weeks ago to be honest. So i take it then give it a flush before i do the head. Then once done i can refill with fresh oil and take it from there then.
 
careful with the engine flush in an old engine as it can remove the oil from oil pump and then when you fill it back up you might not have any oil pressure
 
biodiesel should not present the same problems as veg oil but i would give it a good flush out, i use 50/50 derv/engine oil and run on tickover for 20 mins then drain and fit new filter before filling with new oil. I also change every 5k miles and flush each time. But i do run on veg /bio mix.
 
I shall post my findings tomorrow lol. Hopefully not to bad. Its never overheated, and i have no excess pressure from the expansion bottle.
 
Nah no sunroof to leak lol. Just the front windscreen seal, and whatever else wants to leak. I don't question it as it is after all a landy :)
