Hi Guys
Another little niggle has manifest itself.....

Every now and then the HDC warning light comes on the Instrument panel. It happens randomly and turning the ignition off and back on seems to reset it. It happens when HDC is not switched on. Switching into HDC and out again does nothing.

Any ideas?:confused:
 
Have you removed the gear lever rubber boot and checked the 2 connections which run to the HDC switch, that would be my first point to check.

Perhaps someone can help?? My HDC warning light is iluminated continually. The vehicle seems to drive fine but it is an anoying problem. Does anybody havea fix? Cheers.
 
Doesn't the light stay on when activated? You can still drive with it on I think but it won't work unless you're in 1st or reverse gear and not touching the pedals.

1) Brake Switch position or suspect
2) HDC wiring in centre console
3) Oiling up of Throttle body (I believe this needs an ECU reset if cleaned)

Yep, tried the suggested routes. Its the amber HDC light with the exclamation mark which lights up continually. I never use HDC so may just take the bulb out. Not the correct fix I know but I am an engineer after all. :rolleyes:
 
It has been mentioned to check the ABS sensor. Does anybody have experience of this sensor failing and how to get to it?
 
Hi on freelanders some other things to look at is your drive shafts,they dont have reluctor rings on and the sensors are made of plastic on newer ones anyway,well the driveshafts can rust a bit were the sensor reads so best bet if this is the case is remove drive shafts and clean with wire wheel or emery paper,ive had a few cars from costal areas that are rusty and this has sorted the problem,incorrect throttle cable setting will bring light on if to tight and brake light switch inop or intermitant operation of brake light switch hdc switch as pointed out wires break on gear knob,tiga

Hi Tiga,

with mine, the HDC and TC amber lights are on all the time but after I left the car for at least 4 weeks (just start to warm up) the lights were gone for a week and now it comes back on again.
Do you think its the result of rust on the driveshaft? brake switch? well I did change it already but still. Or too much oil in the throttle body as someone said on this thread ?

If the throttle body is oiled up, can we take it out and clean it? will it solve tha problem? rather than change it with a new one. :cool:

anyone knows how to reset ecu?
