Hello people.

so last year i bought a 2007 3 GS . With 160000. Got it cheap enough so new id need to change things as they wear out....

week later, hdc fault, worlds endimg, bing bing bing bong bong...
After doing my research, saw that a brake light was out- swapped with a genuine land rover one, bought a new brake switch, and brand new battery.
Still same problem, after 15 mins of driving, off it goes again. So on another forum i read a load of stuff, and went and got my 4 wheels aligned, and someone on the forum had a mate, and he came out and reset the steering stuff , re calibrated.

all ok for 2 days and then off again...ffs...

in the mean time the MOT ran out and my pal took it to a mate of his, and it failed on window squirters and a tie rod end was broken..???.. so they put a new track rod end on. But my tracking is now out.
Still got same hdc problem. Sometimes when i go round a bend, traction kicks in for some reason, when it dont have too.

Also if i reverse and im on lots of lock, sometimes it feels as if wheels are jumping??

so looked at steering sensor under the dash, seems ok, all moving normal.

is there anyone near me, whom i can pay to plug in, find the faults, even fix the poxy thing, as im coming to the end of my tether now i think!! Its got no screen, so basic radio, so cant check via that .

any help
Will be appreciated!

Steering angle sensor, have read where someone put their phone under there and then drove it so they could then see the sensor was moving of its own accord, they come loose on the shaft and need glueing back on.
I am not sure if the icarsoft can recalibrate the sensor? so you may need an IID or pay someone.

The tie rod end might have been the anti roll bar drop arm?

Hi mate- yea i filmed it parked up and the yellow bit moves freely, i dont mind changing it, but for 250 quid, i want it to be broken!!

can you reset the angle sensor and do all that stuff with one of them?

No, but you can see the live data from it. It won't be the steering sensor out of calibration, as that just results in DSC activation when turning. Been there, done that. A dab of CA glue fixed that issue.

The only way to find out what is wrong, will be to do a code read. Your choice is to pay someone £100 to do it, or buy a £100 or more code reader to check the codes yourself. For basic code reading, the I930 will do the trick. However if you want to program, you'll need something like the Gap IID, which change hands for £300+ second hand, or about £500 new.

So i bought a icarsoft and just plugged in....

Before i read the codes out.... I have noticed the traction control kicks in when im going around a left hand bend, quite a few times. and then also now and again, hdc fault, suspension lowering etc etc

So the codes
b1b70
u0416
u0401
u0100
b1b44 ( this is reverse beepers )
u0428
p045d
p045c

So i have cleared them all, but is one pointing to the Steering Angler Sensor? Or the Ride Height Sensor or the ABS sensor, or all?....

Cheers Everyone

You have to read/screen shot what is there now, then clear and roadtest, then read again to see what is current.

You are probably best taking pics of the codes with their explanations then posting the pics, otherwise people have got to spend ages googlong them codes to see what is what, and also what context the code is in.

DSC activation when turning is normal due to the position sensor on column has come loose from the column. A dab of CA glue will fix it, although you'll need to turn have the steering calibrated, after the sensor is secured.

There's a list of LR codes in my signature, which will pinpoint the issue. ;)
