Hazard Warning Tell-Tale

eve all,

whilst waiting for my callipers from discomania, i thought i would av a bash at sorting my hazard warning tell tale behind the dash. now, there isnt a warning triangle but im sure the indicator and trailor lights used to flash when it was on. now only the trailer light flashes. thats why it failed the MOT.

checked behind the dash for a loose wire or something obvious, but couldnt see anything, had a jiggle, nothing. took the switch out, had a jiggle, checked connection, nothing. bulbs are fine, indicators are fine, flasher unit seems ok. all hazard lights flash when its on, the tell tale just wont flash when the hazard is on!

ive looked at the haynes, but jesus im no autoelectrician. i dont know where to start. i will quite happily hit things all day with a hammer and grind bits off but when it comes to electrics i am lost!

can i get a land rover switch which has a built in red flashing light? i could cheat if i could find one of these

when i get a chance to look at my fog light, be prepared for more posts!

Does the indicator warning light flash when the indicators are on?

read summit about that somewhere , think it was the handbook . something to do with towbar wiring or something

yer it does grunt. thats why i dont get it. it must splice into it somewhere, but i dont know where. im sure it used to work when i 1st took the landy on. so it cant be that hard to find/fix.

Some one was asking about the hazard warning switch yesterday, an I'm sure I was asking a bit back and did a fred on it. I ended up taking mine apart an mending it but can't remember much more than that.

Aye ye can Griff Try part # YUF 101830 Hazard Warning Switch. Got one back in Aug 06 for £14 and it flashes When ah put my hazzards on, only the trailer light flashes on the dash, but the switch flashes anaw

just want to know where to look, where things connect etc. idont know where the wires go from the rear of the switch. do they go straight upto the dash? and where do they connect to the indicators? flasher unit? or the stalk?

where you find that buster? is it a direct replacement? or am i going to have to plumb it in

haddocks have em your part number is a 24v though. will call them tomorrow.

will it pass the MOT even with the switch down low. doubt you can see the flash down there!

just went into me local indy and asked for a hazzard switch and that's what they gave me. It just plugged straight in tae the existing connector.
If it's any help ah've got the invoice sittin' in front of me and it says
quantity- 1,
qty desc-ASU 1009,

If it's a 24 volt switch then it works ok on mine and mines is only 12 volt
Should pass the mot as mines did, but ah suppose it depends on the tester

From wot I remember having looked at some pics all the indicator wiring is connected to the dashboard loom with block connectors. except for one wire that comes out of the back of the hazard switch and goes back into the switch on the side. Dunno if this might help you can see the wire it looks as if it's going into the starter switch by the side of the hazard switch.

BTW, google the ASU1009 and see if that's any better

grunt your photo is lie one of them poptical elusion things. you need to become a carny and charge £3 to guess which wires go where! this time next year, you be a brazilianaire!

i know the wire you mean, i thought it was odd why it went back to the switch. i tried it on the spade terminal on the other side of the switch to see, but nothing happened.

YUF101490 Hazard rocker switch - 12v

yer, this looks like it. for some reason, i didnt think you could get the LR rockers that illuminated. im going to save myself a ton of time and just buy this. next set of electrics will be wire in the rear foglight! prepare for part 2 in the new year.

Think someone on the fred I started reckoned that wire was the one that did the lighting up bizniss. Anyhow I never got the actual switch to light up but the ones in the dash do, But then the MOT tester has never checked that they light up neever.

well my MOT chap picked up on EVERYTHING. even my 1 missing reflector and poorly fitted fuel cap nonce

1 Missing reflector, mine dint have any on at all!! Can agree with the fuel cap bit though, a mate of mine only has a small bit of his spleen left an was on a lfe support machine fer a week cos some **** spilt deezil all over the road.

so what's wrong with yer rear fog griff?
