hi all

I suppose the title says it really, I'm thinking about getting a manual but I'm wondering if they are any good for wiring diagrams and electrics more than the mechanical side really

Thanks

Reasonable as a reference 'guide' .. I wouldn't follow everything they say as gospel, indeed certain bits are pretty vague "Assembly is the reverse of dis-assembly" ... With a lot of sections using the old phrase "See paragraph 7 section 11" for relevant info, then para 7 s11 saying "See standard torque value tables on page 42" for example.

However, the wiring diagrams are pretty good and from what I found (admittedly I'm useless at electrics) I could follow them and almost understand them! Certainly enough to trouble shoot wiring and lamp failures etc.

I print the relevant pages of RAVE when I'm working on something and it doesn't matter if they get oily. But I also have a Haynes manual in the car just in case I'm no where near a RAVE equipped PC when trouble strikes.

If you get one, make sure you get the one that covers your vehicle.

there are two different versions, only one covers up to S reg, I do not know what year yours is.

Cheers

The Haynes workshop manual covers both the 200 and 300 series of the D1 from 1989 to1998, so that's both the Tdi's and the two Petrol V8 engines, although not the 4 cylinder petrol.
99% of electrical circuits are shown whole on one page (quote: easy-to-follow layout) and there's lots of pictures and illustrations if u need them :)

Brilliant cheers people

I've had them before for other vehicles years ago so I do know wot you mean about the 'refer to ..., or see ...'.

Mines T reg but '98MY and yes I noticed one only goes to '95

I've been on the missus' iPad for a while now cos the laptop is broken but I was hoping for it to live in the vehicle anyway

Thanks for the replies

I also recommend the Rave file as a resource.

The LR workshop manual for the 200 series isn’t available, I haven’t seen it yet. Therefore the the copy you may be after is the 1995 one which is from no before.
I don’t a have problem with a PDF copy held on my iPad

Thanks peeps

I've ordered a Haynes manual and il have a think about something 'better'

I think I've damaged my mfu and when I couldn't find the wiring diagram I wanted for the 'key in ignition bonger' and I had no idea how to find my fault and no one on here seemed to know that's wot started me thinking about having something to give he an idea

Thanks again
