We picked up the Land Rover today and drove from Chesterfield to Huddersfield in it (him/Her we don't know yet). Anyway I am chuffed to bits with the purchase of our 88" Pick up. Other than a little bit of play (20 degrees ish) and some missing heater pipes (the one that go to the screen ) I cant fault it. I think I bought a bargain. Thanks for all the encouragement and I made it up our hill tonight.

lol 20 degrees is no play at all in the world of series;)
has to be a 'she' unpredictable and tempremental:D:D mines called Pig cos she grunts like one and drives like one:eek:

my series is called f**K as thats the word that most often comes out of my mouth while in it....f**k just ****ted my elbow,F**k it F**king cold.......etc etc

Its just a little bit too much for me 20 degrees. I think I need to half the play to make it comfortable. I am going to check the steering box asap. Pig sounds great. We are toying with Naval name for HER seeing that she is in Marine Blue

definately a she if she has a naval name then, you'll think of one soon enough, Pig started as a joke but it's stuck:rolleyes:

The Ark Royal or just the The Ark are coming to mind. "We are going out in "The Ark Royal" seems a mouthful though.

oh yeah, The Ark is good lol, altho you can gaurantee she won't be as watertight as the original biblical one :hysterically_laughi have you been warned of the indoor water features:confused: mine likes to dribble on my feet, i like to think it's a sign of affection:eek:

and i thought my series was the only one to dribble on me feet !

I think I am lucky the Land Rover was covered in Snow when I collected her. She started no problems at all and there was no indoor water feature. Maybe we have not bonded enough yet.:)

this is a common feature of the landrover marque! my indoor pool's feed is specailly designed to drip right over the accelerator pedal, which ensures a nice wet right foot. i've greased my seals over the entry point and it sems to have stopped it for the mo

I have used her in the Snow this morning. Shes Brilliant in it. Our house is at the top of a 100m steepish slope with some nice bends to put the fear into you. It was covered in Snow and the Farmer next door left his Pathfinder at the bottom as if to say 4x4's should not try this. I walked some of the slope and although there was plenty of Snow I could not feel any of the very slippery Ice that I thought would be there. Anyway I thought low ratio 2nd gear and dab the brakes in a panic situation and I can do this. I thought at some point its going to slide and all I would have to worry about is the wall at the bottom. So I set off on my epic 1st Snow bound journey (I only picked her up yesterday)
"Ark" our Marine Blue Series 3 Diesel pickup started 1st time and the temperature was -3, something our Volvo currently doesn't do at any temperature. I love the sound its obviously mechanical but almost animal, there is no rythmic pattern like you get in a modern car. I used the hand throttle to warm her up and stuck her into low ratio 4wd. My Cairn Terrier (Reggie) ran for the house as I revved "Ark" up for no other reason than to hear the engine play its tune. I think "Reggie" will just need to get used to her, we had a series of MG midgets and eventually he loved traveling in them with the roof down, although he would always be facing the wrong way with his front paws on the passenger seat's front (if you can imagine). I walked round the car in a tyre kicker motion moving snow and general preparing myself more than the landy. So Snow cleared from vision and heater now on I placed it in 1st and set off only to find that I had stuck it in reverse (will I ever get used to this gearbox?). So I went straight for second gear and reduced the hand throttle to off. A few revs and off I trundled down the hill, covering the brake and waiting for a slide and the wall at the bottom of my hill to reach my bumper. within a few feet of setting off I knew that I was going to make this journey. The Journey down the hill that seemed so impossible to be easy was infact

easy. All I can think of now is a speech by J F Kennedy where he says we do these things because they are hard. "Ark" made my trip and my self feel incredible. I drove round the streets of Marsden and even up the Snow Laden A62 that is closed due to Snow. Cars stuck in the Snow were everywhere. Now I was thinking that, I wish I had a job just to be the only one to get to work.(lol)
Anyway yesterday we did almost 90 miles in Ark and I was questioning our purchase, mainly because of traveling on a motorway at 50mph is not great. But stick some bad weather into the equation and "Ark" our series 3 diesel landrover 88" pickup comes into her own.
We all love her (Reggie is still a little nervous)

What a Great Car and a Good group of people we must all be to see this.
