what the like? is it worth useing it or would it be better byeing a box off a 300 or 200?
any info would be good thanks

what it is, is my mate is doing an engine change he has an lt85 box in at the min but he was thinking of leaving it in and just changing the engine is it possible and what is it like?

I don't think there is a bell housing for the diesels, I only remember them in v8's. they always seemed to have noisy lay shaft bearings. The split case one's are easy to rebuild though.
I would look for a late lt77

maybe motor and diesel would have a conversion adapter, but that would move the engine further forward and not be cheap.

i wouldnt bother ,whilst they are a strong box they are long bell housing type so engine needs to be set forward as 300 tdi but then you may as well use r380 or lt77 short bell housing for 200 ,they are an older design with multiple selector shafts so gear selewction isnt as positive as lt77 and r380 single shaft type

I have spent alot of time recently geting ready to do the 200tdi...

i have decided on a ashcroft R380 build for the 200tdi,when i worked out the power for 4 gears and the amount of work it was the best option.
