Has anybody used TD5 diagnostics before?

Hmm. Steve the Landline Man on Facebook is saying that he's not the same Steve as the one who runs TD5 Diagnostics - says that he just hosts the td5diagnostics.com website. I don't think I believe him - same address, same phone number, and both called Steve?!
 
Steve Powell is now telling me that the owner of TD5 Diagnostics is someone called Neil Davis. This is smelling more and more fishy by the minute, and I can see it going nowhere fast. I think I'm going to give the Citizens' Advice Bureau a ring on Monday and find out whether it's better to go to the County Court, or to report it to West Mercia Police as a potential online fraud.
 
Right, another update. I've just got off the phone with Steve Powell, who is the chap behind Glowplug Holdings, the entity which hosts the td5diagnostics.com website. He seems like a reasonable guy, and is just as annoyed as I am about this as TD5 Diagnostics' poor handling of this matter is dragging Glowplug down as well (due to their connection as website hosts and the ease with which their details can be found via a whois search on the domain).

Steve has told me that he's going to e-mail Neil Davis, the owner of TD5 Diagnostics, and put pressure on him to resolve the issue without delay, and that he will be withdrawing his website hosting services if it's not resolved satisfactorily. He was reluctant (understandably, as he doesn't know me from Adam) to give out a contact address for Neil Davis, but he's promised that he'll copy me in on the e-mail he sends to Neil. So we'll see what happens now.

Neil : I have today been contacted by, at the very least 2 people; via phone and via email and via Facebook - after a long day with call outs on the road all day I am not happy to get home to this. Unfortunately my good business name is being associated with a number of customers who feel they are not receiving a decent level of service from you and your staff.

I cannot allow this to continue. I will be forced to withdraw all hosting services to prevent further issues unless you sort this out by close of business 11th October 2013.

I have separately emailed you the audio from the call with Gareth who I think you will agree is being a great deal more patient than most would be given the circumstances so please make contact, whatever problems you are having any kind of contact is better than none, otherwise you risk Trading Standards and Small Claims Court being involved!!!!

Edit: I have just found a post on LandyZone.net mentioning myself in connection with your business. Not happy. Sort it out.

PS. I have thus far not given out your home address....

Hello everyone.

Having spoken to Gareth I sent the above email to Neil. As far as I know he owns the business although may take a very back seat judging from comments. Its not good being let down, its happened to me in the past. Its especially bad after 7 years in business and lots of good feedback to be associated with this.

And its really not nice to get home to a sinister scary sounding bloke on a voicemail, emails and Facebook messages after a long hectic stressful day, so i have made it as clear as i can in the email above I wont stand for it.

The reason the addresses are the same (same with 15 / 30 domains we host via Glowplug Holdings) is that on some we register the domain and retain ownership and charge an exit fee if they want to leave.

I hope my kick up the arse results in a quick settlement.
 
Steve, thank you for responding here. I have just now received an e-mail from Neil (who was sending from the [email protected] address, Dave, if you want to try getting in touch with him that way - [email protected] would be another one to try), apologising and promising to get it sorted pronto.

I have given him the information necessary to do this, and reiterated Steve's suggested deadline of close of business on 11th October as being the cut-off point for a satisfactory conclusiion and the avoidance of legal action to recover what's owed to me.

Let's see if he can do better than his feckless employees ...

Had a chat with Neil on phone last night.

We unfortunately had a difference of opinion regarding their conduct so at this moment in time I have applied a redirect on the shop part of their site so it loops back to the main page. I've done this to prevent any further issues / orders until they sort their **** out.

One upshot of the shop element of the site being removed is that the 'contact us' page is now inaccessible - this was the only page on the site with the company address on it. In case Neil fails to pay up on time, and anyone needs the address for the purposes of writing to him, instigating legal proceedings via the small claims court, etc., here it is :

Absolutely, Steve - it wasn't a criticism of you, I think you've done the right thing. As I said to you last night, if I were in your shoes I'd be furious with this muppet of a 'businessman'. It was just to make it that bit more difficult for the guy to avoid paying up.

It seems as though his staff have already made a good start at wiping out his business for him - if I don't get my money back by the end of next week, hopefully the local county court will do their bit to help it along with a CCJ against him.

Disgruntled customers arriving at his home would not be good for his marriage, so I'm 99% sure he will - he has said he will. The reason I did what I did was because I was accused of poking my nose in, everyone was overreacting and not a single apology to me for the **** i got yesterday. So I overreacted by shutting down his online shop. Once this is settled he is off my server for good.

I did think the price was a bit low, but the website details etc looked pretty good etc. I do not usually get sucked in like this but I really thought it was genuine!
Here is hoping for an end to it all soon.

It is natural for us to go for a bargain but it is important that these fraudsters are found and prosecuted, surely the Police would be interested in this matter with the information to hand.

It seemed very cheap - but Steve at TD5 Diagnostics was far more communicative before he had my money from me (surprisingly!), and his story was that they're units which used to be used by the company's mechanics as part of the mobile diagnostics side of the business, and were therefore being sold as used items in good condition. This, combined with the fact that they're the 'first generation' Nano Evo's with the plastic case, made a price of about half of what the current generation sell for brand-new seem realistic.

I'm normally an extremely cautious person when it comes to parting with my hard-earned - but I guess I misjudged this one.
