Happy Disco 2 Days

Hi All,

Just bought my first Land Rover (Disco 2) after owning a Frontera I though it was time to upgrade.

I hope that the forum can help me along the way with my Disco to reduce a few costs, save some time with cheats and Mod kits etc.

I have completed a full service, changed the coolant and brakes but there they are easy things, the challenges I now face are,

• The ACE pump has a leak and is dripping on the fan belt
• The sunroof drains need cleared
• There is a metal bar at the bottom behind the front bumper which needs replaced due to corrosion
• Slight play on the OSF wheel and the actuator on the Tubro is not opening

    Any help or advice would be most welcome on the above or other jobs I may need to check on doing.
    
    The Disco is on a 2000 V plate 2.5td5 It has 106,000 on the clock and been mostly parked not getting much use hence I think why it has the above problems.

Hi and welcome!

Get in the Discovery section for a surf around - my D2 doesn't have the ACE pump; not sure if you have to replace the pump or if there's a seal kit. The sunroof problem might not be drains - they don't always seal on the roof itself....

Slight play in wheel bearings - you can't just nip up a castellated nut on a D2. To all intents and purposes, the wheel HUB is the bearing, they come pre-assembled as one unit including the ABS sensor wire. Budget for buying a replacement hub soon. The play might generate an ABS sensor error (air gap I think) then give you the 3 amigos. Saying that, the NSF on mine had quite a wobble and it never did throw up an ABS error!

Thanks for the welcome, Picking up on Difflocks point regarding the seal kit I will have a search around the forum in the Discovery section.
