Im not the biggest guy in the world but the position of the handbrake is akward. I have to almost shuffle forward on the seat to click it off particularily annoying on hill starts
Is there any retro fit addition in existence to being it closer thus being able to reach it in a standard seating position.

Never heard of one but I doubt it would be hard to make a bracket to lift it up a little. Personally I'm looking at relocating my handbrake and use one similar to that used on the old ford ranger/masda 2500 pickups.

Can't say it's a real issue where it is for me. But if you want you can fit an RRC/Disco 1 handbrake lever. Assuming you have no middle seat, there is enough room to fit a new handbrake lever to left of the drivers seat, on top of the seat base. The stock cable should reach just fine, then you can remove the old lever and blank off the hole.

JE Engineering do an electric handbrake conversion link

Charge a pretty penny for it mind:eek:

I put a length of 1/2" (12mm) pipe in between the lever and the seat box stop. From memory it was about 3" long and caused the lever to be just about vertical with the brake fully on. (Slacken adjustment off completely, disconnect h/b inner from lever in cab and thread through the pipe and reconnect). Not particularly elegant, but it worked.

No pics because it got junked when I scrapped the body.

What seats have you got fitted i only ask as i have Mazda rx8 seats fitted sat on 3" x 2" box section steel and i have no probs reaching for the H/brake lever :)

Standard seats and no way I can reach handbrake without leaning well forward.
Ill have a look at potential RRC/Disco 1 handbrake mods as mentioned on other responses
Will post pics if and when
Cheers guys
