Handbrake Sticking on

My motor is a 99 Rangerover P38 DSE Auto, when i release the handbrake lever the brakes are still on....and usually come off with a bang as i pull away. it only seems to do it first thing in the morning after its been standing all night. are there any grease nipples on the cable?.....or is it a caes of removing the whole cable and soaking it in a bucket of diesel?.

doesnt the handbrake act on the prop shaft?

i know they did on the old classic rangerovers....not sure about the P38, will have to go on rave and have a look.

yes it does and it could be the drum grabbing with damp / rust
for the lazy like me just drive slowly with hand brake slightly on for a 100 yards.
Or if you want to get keen or it persists then drum off and 80 grit the shoes and drum and check and adjust it

or like me, just use the park gear and leave by the nearest exit!!
