Hi everyone, after a bit of help please i have searched youtube with no luck.

Can you replace the bolts in the flange that attaches to the rear prop shaft inside the handbrake drum without removing the flange?

I know there is a retaining clip and a dust cover behind them which you have to push back to access the bolts but can this be done whilst in place as all i want to do is chane a bolt which has been damaged.

Thanks in advance

If I have understood you, you want to remove the propshaft bolts that pass through the handbrake drum? If so you You need to remove the handbrake drum and then the flange to change them

although, that is on mine which is 20years older than yours, I seem to recal there was something behind the flange that stopped the bolts being pushed out with the flange in situ, I can’t quite remember though sorry

mots not hard dismantling those parts tbh

Yeah there is a retaining clip that holds the bolts in place plus the metal dust cover, one of the bolts is threaded so i was hoping to just get away with changing the bolt by just pushing it back rather than taking the flange out lol i shouldn't of been so optimistic

If i remove the flange do i need to drain the oil or will the seal stop it leaking?

you might get a dribble out but it won’t hush out when you pull the flange out.

good opportunity to check the flange running surface and the condition of the seal, they aren’t expensive parts so worth checking while you are in there

Hi yeah might do that if it needs it in a week or two but for now i need to replace the bolt so it passes the MOT
