Handbrake Adjuster Keeps Breaking

Having had hand brake shoes and cable already replaced, we have had the hand brake adjuster fail on four occasions now.

Each time it seems to disintegrate after only a couple of weeks usage.

Upon installing a new adjuster, the handbrake is normally engaging after 2-3 clicks on the ratchet.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?

BTW: This is a 2002 Disco TD5

Are the replacements genuine Land Rover or 'other' ?

Not totally sure. Is this part often very substandard when non-genuine?

Don't know, but to have that many break sounds a little odd to put it mildly, mine is still working after 152k miles and has never failed.

It isn't a known common failure point on the D2.
