I have a mystery hand throttle attached to my old Series IIA, which
was originally an export model, so it may have been overseas at some
point

Has anybody ever seen one of these before, or even better, has anyone
got another one for sale?

Failing that, has anyone got a "normal" SII/IIA hand throttle, the
kind that fits under the dash?

I've got one of those on mine too ... but it's not for sale.

I thought it was a fairly standard design, although I've seen the screw
knob type too. Perhaps it came as part of the winch kit?

The part you show is listed in the optional parts catalogue alongside the
"normal" one. The "normal" one is listed as "engine governor quadrant
control", the one you show is listed as "Hand throttle control", both S2a
2.25, so it would seem that the "normal" one is not the standard one, at
least for the 2a (It was certainly the standard hand throttle for the S1
and S2 - I have it in and S2 optional equipment list.) I have never seen
one of the ones you show - all the S2, S2a Landrovers I have ever owned
have had the "normal" one.

Ive got one of them too. Mine was fitted on the drivers side of the
dash though (presumably as it was a diesel).
I'd like to refit it but i havent got round to working out how to fix
it to the linkage for the 2.5D.

If it is a diesel it is probably just 'standard' to adjust idling speed
at low temperatures.
I use it also as 'autopilot' on motorways. Quite primitive but it works.
Kind regards,

Its a "standard" option on IIa's - the traditional curved one
(the normal one if you prefer) is for vehicles up to
Suffix E, the one in your photo is for vehicles from Suffix F

Used to drive one back in the late fifties/early sixties. Otherwise
known as the chicken switch!! Intended to be used with the power take
off when vehicle stationary.
