Freelander 2 - I have just been told that the haldex unit is what needs replaced to cure my ticking noise when coasting. Is the Haldex unit / IRD / transfer box all the same thing?

Thanks, its just that my mechanic says to get a new haldex unit but when i ring around some people dont know it as that they call it an IRD. But when spending this sort of money i need to be sure that its the same thing.
 
Thanks for that but got second opinion and both concluded the same thing! Does anyone know where you can either get them refubished. As my other option is to get a second hand one but I know that there is two different types. Can anyone tell me what the differences are?

You could try ashcroft transmissions. Not sure if they do them. The haldex is only fitted to the Freelander 2. As they're still quite new, it may be the case they're not available that much second hand. Try ebay too.
 
Also fitted to audi group cars, audi have filter to service
