L322 Gutless :-(

Hi All i have an issue with my 2002 TD6

starts but if you put your foot down at all it just ignores you, will slowly accelerate but god help you if you hit a hill!

checked the in tank fuel pump and can hear that running when you turn on the ignition (shuts off after about 30 seconds presumably got up to pressure) changed the fuel filter just in case but still wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
I think this is a fueling issue (though not sure) no faults on the dash.
anyone else encountered this type of problem? does any one know an easy test on the high pressure rail as i'm starting to suspect the high pressure pump or is there something i'm missing that i should check first?

Did you get your problem from 4 years ago sorted, as, despite a few suggestions, you never posted anything to say if it was fixed.

Check all hoses for splits cracks and internal delamination ...

When was it last serviced ?

Any other things changed recently ?

serviced a couple of months back no issues immediately after so assume they haven't done anything wrong
what hose's? air I assume you mean no fuel leakage apparent so I assume their all good!

internal delamination is that a thing? not heard of that before! I shall have a butchers

No Changes except i fixed the sat nav etc a couple of weeks back but don't think that would influence things

I'm a man of a certain age and and generally iv'e forgotten most things after iv'e slept (its a bit like ground hog day in reverse / 50 first dates) but when a solution appears i shall try to remember to post

You didn't need to add the of a certain age. You would've got away with it by just saying you're a man

But it is nice if people post the solution, should they get one. Otherwise this will just become a website of people popping up every few years, asking for help, being given all sorts of good advice, then walking off once theyre sorted and never telling anyone else the solution. In which case it will be of little use , the next time they come asking for help, as without passing on what worked, no-one will be able to help anyone.

The dash will not tell you if any fault codes are stored - it is best to get it on diagnostics and see if any faults are logged.

The Check Engine Light/Engine Mangement light will only come on for certain faults, not all of them!

its been on a diagnostic thingy down at our mechanics and nothing stored except an intermittent gear box oil temperature sensor fault!

In that case , those in the know would advise you to get a nanocom on it. Apparently as well as being superior to other vehicles, our darling Range Rovers are a tad selective as to whom they will discuss their issues with.

Nanocom is 2005/6 onwards....

Snap On is pretty code, but as above I'd get it on some decent Land Rover based Diags....

That said, as mentioned above in a previous post, check turbo hoses for splits, delaminations or loose fitment.

As Saint says you need diagnostic data for the relevant systems, I tried a snap on diagnostic on a TD6 I was playing with and it gave nothing useful.
This link is live data from a faultmate extreme msv2 for a TD6.

You only have fuel and compressed air really but there are a lot of parts that make it all work so blindly changing things is a really expensive way of buying a new car.
Could be fuel but my guess would be turbo related but live data would tell you all you need to know
You could try unplugging your MAF to see if that brings it back to life
