What do i need to do, to give my discovery the same ground clearance as a defender ?
As always my Discovery is running like a dream and we have tolled up a few byways together with lots of fun . But i would love to give it the same tyre and ride height as its brother the Defender .

Cheers to you all .

Dont bother, the Discovery is more tha capable in standerd spec with good tyres:) As soon as you start messing with lift kit's you are going to inherit prop shaft problems, castor arms etc.........not to mention reduction in on road handling:eek:

Best bet is a higher set of off road tyres.

I may well have got this wrong - but I just changed from 205/16 to 7.5-16 tyres on my series and having measured the circumference (not rolling dia) the circumference has increase from 2.23M to 3.0Metres - that gives me 2" extra lift and a top speed (woohoo) increase at the same revs from 45 to 60.5MPH! - that is if i can pull it, of course;).

Having owned a disco with 205/70/16 all terrain tyres on, a 110 with 245 all terrains, and a 110 with a 2"lift and 265/75/16 mud terrains, I reckon the only real difference is the tyres. The disco would go anywhere a defender can except taking into account it's a bit heavier and the less grippy tyres. The 110 with the 265 muds on is awesome off road but those tyres are **** on tarmac, no grip at all in the wet:( If I had a disco now I would put on the widest poss a/t tyres but not mess with the suspension. They roll like a pig in **** even without a lift;)
